Our animals are sold healthy and age appropriately vaccinated and dewormed. We dehorn, so let us know if you wish otherwise. We wean late, at a minimum of seven months, since it's healthier for both calf and cow. We do our best to at least begin halter training. We do not test for beta casein as we don't think it is relevant, but can do so at the buyer's expense. Our heifers are sold as potential milk cows, so treat them kindly and train them fairly. We only sell what we would keep, our culls go in the freezer. Yes, we eat heifers and cows that fail our expectations. That's why we can sell steers.
Our pricing of breeding stock depends on the dam and her record. While we deem our prices fair, they reflect that we have learned the hard way that not all Dexters are created equal. We have culled half of the 16 cows that we have purchased over the years and resold only one. Two went back to their breeders and one was euthanized. Do the math. We actively cull within our herd so you don't have to. We take our responsibility as breeders of highly productive, true dual-purpose Dexters seriously and our prefix means a lot to us.
Sorry, but no calves are available at this time.
If you are interested in any of our mature cows, drop us a note and come visit. Some might be available.
